The salangai, gajje, or bells, are a very important part of a Bharatanatyam dancer's dance journey. Students are not allowed to wear these bells before this pooja. During this pooja, the student prays to God to ensure a successful journey in dance. After this pooja is complete, the teacher will offer the salangai/gajje(bells) to the student.
